Our Mission

As an independent research institute, the TUM FinTech Center aims to create a platform for the exchange of knowledge between academia, policymakers, and industry. Our research supports the societal debate on the digitalization and decentralization of the financial and real economy. As a close partner to leading venture builders and investors, we encourage and support FinTech entrepreneurship. Through both our application-oriented research and our talent sourcing initiatives, we bridge the gap between academia and society..

Research

FinTech research with a broad range of topics forms the core of our daily work. We are located at the interface between academic research and applied finance and technology. A particular focus of our work is on entrepreneurial, financial, and sustainability-related FinTech themes. Our research results are published in high-ranking journals together with our international partners.

Knowledge exchange

A central pillar of our activities is the promotion of exchange between industry and academia. The TUM FinTech Center sees itself as a constructive and critical point of contact for decision-makers in policymaking and industry. In cooperation with our partner companies, we work on solutions to current challenges. Our event formats offer a neutral platform for the exchange of opinions and the presentation of new research approaches.

Education and talent sourcing

Together with our partner companies, we support young academics. Our FinTech Talents program supports particularly high-performing management and computer science students in their professional and personal development. Our Ph.D. program supports selected dissertation projects and international research stays. The doctoral students are actively integrated into our global research network.

Funding of the TUM FinTech Center

TUM FinTech is financed as a non-profit organization. Its activities are supported by a broad base of partner companies and public institutions. The funding structure of the institute guarantees the complete independence of its scientific work. If you are interested in becoming a supporting member of the TUM FinTech Center, please contact our Head of External Affairs.
